Saturday night I went to Avalon in Hollywood for O’neill and Teen Vogue’s Generation Next event with my friends Gina and Amber. There was a swimsuit Fashion show, a fashion show for 5 O’neill design contest finalists who’s teams modeled O’neill’s new collection and model Elyse Taylor modeling their designs. I loved the swimsuit portion of the fashion show, because they used floral headdresses and carried instruments like tambourines and guitars for an awesome hippie look! I didn’t realize that it was going to mainly be high school kids, but it was still fun, and the designs that the finalists had created were all really good. Here is a video from the event.

I save a lot of pictures that I find online for inspiration, some my friends have posted, some I’ve seen on other blogs, I save them for inspiration for future outfit ideas, party decorating, and interior design. Here are some of them, I don’t save where I got them from (I really should start), so if they are yours, I apologize.

MY Closet Essentials (That aren’t really in my closet!)

1. Good Detergent- I used to think that every detergent was the same, and I really bought detergent more for the brand, or the scent, but my ex-boyfriend told me that Cheer was really good because your clothes don’t fade as easily. I didn’t believe him at first, but now that I’ve used it for a while I totally do. Who wants a closet full of faded and old looking clothes? Not me.
2. A Steamer- I don’t think anyone in my age group knows how to use an iron (the only reason I know is because I have a list of which fabrics need what kind of heat setting), and really there is no reason to now that we have steamers. It’s probably the best investment you can make for your closet, especially if you have a job where you need to look presentable. This steamers is the “Home Touch PS-200 Perfect Steam Commercial Garment Steamer.” My mom does commercial styling sometimes, and this is the one she brings on set with her… so you know it works! It’s about $60, but it’s a really good investment if you can afford it (you can get a used one from amazon for about $30 too!)

3. A Mesh Bag- If you don’t wash your bra’s by hand, I can’t stress enough how important it is to wash your intimates in a mesh bag. They basically protect them from ripping, losing their shape, and stretching.

4. A lint roller- I really don’t need to explain this- especially if you wear a lot of black and have a white cat named Julius.

5. Shout Wipes (or Tide Wipes)- If you’re messy like me, you don’t want to let stains sit without being treated all day. I’m not saying that these will completely remove a stain on the go- but treating the stain before washing will help get it out once you put it in the washing machine when you get home.

Fashion Week Favorites.

If you are confused as to why I have been posting so many runway shows, It’s because this week was fashion week! I’m only going to post 1 more blog after this, with only my favorite looks from the best collections in my opinion. My favorite collections were: Wes Gordon, Timo Weiland, Peter Som, Suno, Proenza Schouler, Tommy Hilfiger and Marc Jacobs. Some trends that really stood out to me were this sort of 70′s tailored old hollywood feel, something I imagine my grandma wearing in her late 20′s. I also saw a lot of, round sunglasses, oversized polka dots, the colors tan, neon blue, and orange, and zebra and cheetah prints. What trends do you spot?

I love the colors, the textures, and the feel that surrounds the collection- which remind me of a mix of hollywood glamour, bohemian and 60′s mod. The way some of the dresses flow in that etherial manor makes you want to dance around, and the shorter dresses make me feel the need to throw on some go-go boots. Ah Marchesa, how do you do it every time?

I went to Forever 21 the other day to stock up on some basics for Fall. I noticed a few pairs of sweatpants that seemed to be made to wear as pants (not just to lounge around in). What do you think about wearing sweatpants as fashion statement?
